Prepare the Popcorn
Remove every unpopped kernel, place the popcorn in one extra-large heatproof bowl or divide it between two large bowls, and add mixed nuts if desired.

The caramel settles around the popcorn in golden clusters you can pull apart by hand. Condensed milk gives the buttery coating a softer bite against the crisp kernels.
This Buttery Caramel Crunch Popcorn combines crisp freshly popped corn with a rich, soft-chewy caramel made from brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, and sweetened condensed milk. It makes a generous old-fashioned batch for holiday tins, movie nights, and family gatherings.

I usually wet my hands a little before pressing the popcorn into the pans because otherwise the caramel sticks to absolutely everything. The mixed nuts make it taste more like the popcorn tins people pass around at Christmastime.

Remove every unpopped kernel, place the popcorn in one extra-large heatproof bowl or divide it between two large bowls, and add mixed nuts if desired.

Bring the brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt to a full boil. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and cook, stirring constantly, until the caramel reaches soft-ball stage. Remove it from the heat and stir in the vanilla.

Pour the hot caramel over the popcorn in several additions, folding thoroughly after each addition until the popcorn is evenly coated.

Spread the coated popcorn in parchment-lined pans. Press it gently into an even layer and let it cool completely before breaking it into clusters.
