Toast the Walnuts:
Bake the walnuts until lightly golden.

Toasted walnuts soften the briny punch of Kalamata olives in this herb-packed tapenade. Spread it on warm crostini, or tuck a spoonful into a sandwich when it needs something bright and savory.
Olive tapenade is one of those spreads that instantly makes simple food feel a little more special. A spoonful on toasted bread is hard to beat, but I probably use it even more on sandwiches, pasta, and roasted vegetables. The toasted walnuts mellow out the olives just enough, while the basil and parsley keep everything tasting fresh. I always end up finding more uses for it than I planned.

Bake the walnuts until lightly golden.

Process the walnuts into a smooth paste.

Add the remaining ingredients and blend until combined.
Taste, season, and refrigerate.
